Influenza Campaign 2017- Patient Information
We identified two Saturdays 23th September and 7th October 2017 and this, once again has been a successful flu campaign. Patients received appointment letters during August/September and were encouraged to check that the appointment day/time was convenient, and if not, to contact the surgery as soon as the letter was received on the flu helpline 07955 751492 to find a different day/time. With 1,800 vaccinations to undertake this is quite challenging work for our flu programme leads (Christy Martin/Clare Webster) and any changes to the lists is easier to manage prior to the actual days. Thank you to Christy and Clare for all their hard work.
For patients new to the practice please note that our system works very efficiently as long as patients arrive on time (not too far in advance). We pretty much guarantee that you will be out of the surgery within 10 minutes of your appointment time
We would also like to state that our clinicians will not be able to undertake any other medical service during these vaccination sessions as they are required to see a patient every 2 minutes.
If you have not received an appointment letter by the end of September, and you feel you are eligible for this vaccination (over 65 or in one of the "at risk" groups) please telephone the surgery flu helpline and the team will look into this for you.
Housebound patients will get a home visit by a surgery clinician - we cannot say when this will be, but will start once we receive vaccine supplies.
Patients who are not eligible for the National Flu Campaign i.e. not "at risk" or over 65 may have a vaccination if we have remaining supplies. Alternatively vaccination is available at some larger supermarkets (with a pharmacy) at a charge.
NOTE: Once again our dispensary team will use the opportunity to meet with some patients to discuss repeat medication. We would ask for your co-operation with this work as it is a requirement of their dispensary role. The meetings will take place after the injection, in a private room. They should only take about 10-15 minutes. If you did this last year you will not be asked again this (unless you request one).

Finally - If, for whatever reason, you cannot make your appointment on the day we would ask you to telephone the surgery using the helpline number 07955 751492 to cancel your appointment and make another one. The main surgery number will be through to the emergency services and should not be used.
