coffeediaryThe Moat House Surgery runs a telephone triage appointment system. This means that when you call the receptionist will ask if you feel you need to be seen today.  If you feel you need to see a doctor today you will be placed on a call back list and a clinicaian will call you back to discuss your illness or query. They will then decide, in discussion with you, the best course of action.  It may be that your problem can be dealt with over the telephone and an appointment is not required.  If they feel you need to be seen they will make you an appointment for that day with the most  appropriate person. You can call the appointment lines (01487 824207 Option 1 or 01487 824033) between 8:00-1:00 and 2:00 -4:00 and a doctor will be available all day to speak to you.  We aim to return your call within a maximum timescale of 30-45 mins but at peak times you may need to wait slightly longer.

If you wish to see a specific doctor you are able to call the appointment lines and book an appointment up to two weeks in advance.  If you have an ongoing health issue we would encourage you to try and see the same doctor to maintain continuity of care. If you have pre-booked an appointment please do all you can to keep it or call in advance to cancel. Appointments are in short supply and your appointment could be used by someone else who needs to be seen.

We do have some "Early Bird" appointments available at 7.40 and 7.50. These appointment are ALL pre-bookable only appointments. Early bird appointments are available each day but not all with the doctor.  Some early appointments are now available for the nurse or Health Care Assistant. Please call the appointments line (option 1)  to book an Early Bird appointment.

Nurses appointments are available on the day and some available up to 14 days ahead. Our nurses are trained to deal with a wide range of ailments including:- asthma, heart disease, medication and contraceptive reviews, wound dressings, ear syringing, new patient registrations and minor illness.

We have a daily blood-taking clinic, run by a phlebotomy trained health care assistant, these are by appointment only and need to be pre-booked.

If the receptionist is unavailable or over a bank holiday period, you will hear a recorded message. This will notify patients when the line is next open. If you need to speak to a doctor urgently during times that the surgery is not open you will automatically be put through to the out of hours doctors.

All patients are reminded that they do need an appointment to see a doctor and nurse.

A number of appointments can be made via the internet  – you will need to contact the surgery to obtain various access codes, but once this is set up you can make an appointment through your computer without contacting the surgery direct. Please ask the receptionist for ACCESS information by phoning 01487 822230 or asking at the front desk. You will be given a sheet of access codes and instructions to register for the first time. You can make appointments by the internet by clicking on the "Book GP Appointments EMIS" via the website Patient UK
